A Grand Floral Spectacle in the Heart of Kolkata

Experience the magic of the “Queen of Flowers” as the Bengal Rose Society, under the prestigious aegis of the Indian Rose Federation, proudly hosts the 42nd All India Rose Convention and Rose Show. From January 3rd to 5th, 2026, the lush greens of Lions Safari Park at Rabindra Sarobar (Gate No. 10) will transform into a breathtaking botanical paradise. This landmark event brings together the nation’s finest rosarians to showcase the artistry and science of rose cultivation in a display of unparalleled color and fragrance.

Bengal (including parts of Jharkhand, during British India) has had a tradition of rose culture and breeding and is closely connected with the history of modern roses. The stud china roses which brought remontancy in rose, took refuge at Indian Botanic Garden, Sibpur (now Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden), before being shipped to Europe. In earlier times rose growing was confined among the elites of the society, but Bengal Rose Society members have developed newer techniques by which common people can enjoy the culture of roses grown in pots-with or without soil.

Witness the Pinnacle of Horticultural Excellence

Prepare to be mesmerized by the All India Rose Show, the undisputed highlight of the convention. The exhibition will feature over 2,500 exquisite cut rose exhibits and more than 700 pot-grown roses—a signature specialty of Bengal. Marvel at the “Kolkata Pot Culture,” where skilled growers produce over 100 blooms on a single plant using innovative soil-less media. These masterpieces, judged by national experts, represent the highest standards of beauty and dedication in Indian floriculture.

Immerse Yourself in Knowledge and Innovation

Beyond the visual feast, the convention serves as a premier hub for learning and growth. Day two features insightful technical sessions led by luminaries like the Director of the ICAR-Directorate of Floricultural Research and leading agritech experts. Whether you are a seasoned breeder or a hobbyist, you will gain exclusive access to the latest research, upcoming trends for the 2028 World Rose Convention, and the launch of the commemorative “Bengal Rose Annual” and the “Roses from Bengal” coffee table book.
